Take Travis Pastrana, for instance. One of the greatest motocross drivers in history has now decided to join NASCAR.

ESPN reported Pastrana’s open-field entry to the Daytona 500 in a 23XI car sponsored by Black Rifle Coffee. “As my career gets further to the end, I just really, really, really want to be able to line up one day at the Daytona 500. It’s the biggest race in the world as far as my family is concerned,” he said.

It’s a great opportunity for Pastrana to pursue his dream. Obviously, since it’s an open-field entry, it is not going to be easy, but he’ll take it.

NASCAR isn’t too impressed by Travis Pastrana

Pastrana might have been ecstatic to finalize his chance to race in Daytona. After all, it’s a chance that not too many get. Especially the chance to partner with Bubba Wallace, and learn from Michael Jordan. But fans of the sport weren’t too impressed by the announcement.

On a Facebook post by Heavy.com, fans were brutal with their comments on the move. One ‘concerned’ fan informed, “​​There is no practice before qualifying! he’s going to hop in the car and run a qualifying lap? he probably won’t even meet minimum speed”

Another deeply disgruntled fan said, “Why not Nascar has become nothing but a big circus…..just like Nitro circus….23x racing what a joke………I thought you were better than that Travis…”

Others were quick to pass judgment on how Daytona is going to be for him. “He stinks in nascar we tried this experiment with him already,” said one fan, while another said, “3 laps down at best Danica pastrana”
