For Alex Bowman, the 2022 season hasn’t panned out the way he or his team would’ve wanted to. Neither has he been able to replicate the results from his 2021 campaign nor has he built off the momentum from his first and only win of the season in Las Vegas back in March.

This run continued in Richmond as well as Bowman and his spotter, Kevin Hamlin, had an exchange that scream frustration.

At one point in the race, Hamlin warned his driver of another car who was in “for position”, to which, an infuriated Bowman replied, “Kevin (Hamlin), I can’t pass *expletive* anybody. I don’t care who’s for position.”

“Well, we keep this up, the whole *expletive* field is going to pass us,” the spotter responded.

The crew chief of Alex Bowman slams the recent display of racing in NASCAR

In a recent interview, Greg Ives, the crew chief of Alex Bowman, heavily criticized the racing product that was on display at IMS when it comes to being respectful and lack of professionalism.

“I see better racing out of my seven-year-old kid,” Ives said. “When we go to these Go-Kart tracks, they touch somebody, they get penalized for incidental contact or avoidable contact.”

“We have professionals there running it like it’s an S&S Speedway slingshot race.”

The crew chief argued that what’s happening is neither good for racing nor good for professionalism.

And in the end, it’d be up to NASCAR “to figure out” how to make the racing back to being respectable and professional as according to him, some drivers nowadays don’t mind “running the next guy over.”

But still, if that doesn’t work either, Ives suggests something else.

“Maybe a bruised nose or a black eye might help,” he added.
