WATCH: An Apologetic Hendrick Driver Alex Bowman Confronts Kyle Busch After Dearly Costing Him NASCAR Win at COTA

Without even trying to be dramatic, if someone were to tell you that during the second last lap of a race in which Kyle Busch was leading, if Alex Bowman wrecked him and cost him a sure-win, you wouldn’t be wrong to assume Busch absolutely losing it. And that’s what happened in the NASCAR Truck race in Austin.

Or to be more precise, the former happened, the latter didn’t.

Kyle Busch, Alex Bowman, and Stewart Friesen’s trucks came together in Turn 11 at the Circuit Of The Americas, opening the door for Zane Smith to take advantage of the situation, which he did as he took the checkered flag that looked to be going to Busch.

Surprisingly though, Busch didn’t have the reaction one would expect from him. And this could’ve been partly because of what Alex Bowman did after the race.

In a video posted by NASCAR on Instagram, the Hendrick driver walks up to Busch and said, “You’re probably pissed at me.” Bowman then went to explain what happened in turn 11 after which he said, “I apologize.”

Bowman told Busch that he respects him and apologized once again as he walked away from a very calm and understanding Kyle Busch.

Alex Bowman was expecting Kyle Busch to be mad at him

In his post-race interview, Alex Bowman admitted he doesn’t expect Busch to be completely okay with him yet. “To the point where he’s not mad at me? No, but it cost him a race, right? So he’s gonna be mad,” he said.

“But we race each other long enough and talk enough, and know each other well enough that I feel like he absolutely knows that I didn’t drive in the corner and try to crash him.”

“I hated it, but it’s part of it.”

On the other hand, Kyle Busch described the incident as “just racing.”
