Last night, NASCAR fans got the chance to see some short-track racing, at Bristol Motor Speedway. It was the first time since the series returned from the COVID-19 shutdown and the race didn’t disappoint.
There were 17 cautions in the race and Bristol keep on surprising the viewers till the last lap. The biggest incident of the night unfurled after Jimmie Johnson caused Ricky Stenhouse Jr to spin in front of the upcoming traffic. He spun and made contact with multiple cars and a caution was called.
After the race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr said, “We just got crashed. Our Kroger Camaro was just so good. Two weeks in a row, I feel like, we had one of the best cars I’ve had at that given race track. We were just racing hard. The No. 42 (Matt Kenseth) had to check-up and the No. 48 (Jimmie Johnson) just ran into our left rear and spun us. But, it was a bummer. I felt like we had a really good shot at racing them for the win”

In the race, Jimmie Johnson prompted Ricky Stenhouse to turn out and spin. He took out multiple cars with him and caution flags came out. Kurt Busch, Tyler Reddick, Matt DiBenedetto, Ryan Preece, Cole Custer were all affected by the incident.
After that, It looked as though the race would come down to Chase Elliott and Joey Logano in the last five laps. However, with three laps to go, Elliott lost control and turned toward the outside and made contact with Logano. And opened up space for Keselowski to snatch the win.

Johnson revealed that the real reason behind all these crashes in the recent races is the increasing competitiveness. Drivers are pushing as hard as possible to score the win and sometimes it forces them to make rash turns.
