The final pre-season test is underway ahead of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season. This time around, the paddock was at the Phoenix Raceway. The Phoenix test will be everyone’s last chance to gather data and adapt to the Next Gen cars. Sometime during the session, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch had a wild moment.

As he entered the final corner, the rear end of the #18 Toyota stepped out and he spun. Fortunately, he did not do a full 360° spin and he avoided hitting the barrier. Although the car was undamaged, it did compromise his lap and he trundled down the front straight to a stop.

In response to the spin, many fans applauded the driver for keeping the car away from the wall. One fan tweeted, “Say what you want about Kyle Busch but that’s just pure talent right there with the save by keeping it out of the wall when any other driver probably would’ve gotten it into the wall with the same spin or loose car Kyle Busch just had there.

How did the NASCAR test pan out for Kyle Busch?

Busch’s spin pretty much proved that these cars are harder to tame. Many fans see it as a good thing because they believe that it will make the racing a lot more exciting. Though it is worth mentioning that defending champion Kyle Larson was one of the quickest cars on the track. In other words, despite a new generation of cars, he was picking up right where he left off.

Behind him on the track were Tyler Reddick, Joey Logano and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. It is also worth mentioning that Kurt Busch. and Bubba Wallace were sharing driving duties in one car. This is the first time Wallace has been in the car since his shoulder surgery. Luckily, it does not seem like he has been too badly hobbled. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch managed to slot into 10th place despite the spin.
