At the Bristol Motor Speedway, Chase Briscoe seized victory with Ross Chastain and Austin Cindric in 2nd and 3rd. However, there was an incident involving Chastain and Cindric during the race.

Later on, during the press conference, the two tried to clear the air and find out what really happened. Apparently, Cindric drove into his door, and Ross Chastain tried to return the favor. He said, “He didn’t want me to hold him down, and I didn’t want to hold him up, I’m the leader.”

The good news for the warring duo was that the coming together did not affect either of their races. This is because the two were able to maintain their positions in the race. However, they did lose a bit of ground to race leader Chase Briscoe.

Austin Cindric’s take vastly differed from Ross Chastain

Cindric revealed, “I’m surprised he cut my car left right before the restart box. I wasn’t surprised that he tried to rub me back down. I saw him doing the same thing to Briscoe on one of the other restarts.

“Really shoving him down to the bottom of the course so that he could get a drive down.”

Cindric revealed that he tried to hold his ground in order to get the best drive. Since it was the closing stages of the race, he wanted to take advantage of his fresher tires. Cindric confessed that he did not know who initiated the contact, but it didn’t matter in the end.

At the end of the day, he classified it as hard racing. However, it is a good lesson in gamesmanship, because he can watch others take each other on and he can benefit.
