Where and What Time to Watch the NASCAR Cup Series 2021 Goodyear 400 Darlington Throwback Race?

This weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series will head to Darlington for the Throwback race. The Goodyear 400 NASCAR Cup Series race, which is expected to commence on Sunday, May 9, at 3:30 PM local time, usually witnesses a number of NASCAR teams unveiling special throwback paint schemes to honor former drivers.

In what has become a rare joy in the world of sports, the Darlington Raceway will hosts fans for the race weekend. Additionally, fans will also be able to return to the Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum & National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame. Audience members who are not present at the track can tune in to Fox Sports or FS1 to watch the race.

Admittedly, the grid for the coming race has not been decided just yet. However, with Kyle Busch winning at Kansas, he would be in with a shout of pole or at least pretty high up.

What to expect from the NASCAR Cup race at Darlington?

The Goodyear 400 has been in operation since 1952, but there was a time period of almost one and a half decades when it wasn’t a part of NASCAR plans; the race was absent from the calendar from 2005 until 2019. Last year, the Kansas Speedway returned to the NASCAR calendar, albeit twice in the same year.

Last year was a double-header, with Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin winning the two races. Unfortunately, they are yet to reach Victory Lane in the 2021 season. So far, at least 10 drivers have won the first 11 races, with Martin Truex Jr winning two.

Without a doubt, the race will be quite exciting, as Hamlin seeks to get his season in order. Despite not reaching Victory Lane, he is still somehow in the lead of the Cup Series championship. Of course, he attributes it to his incredible consistency with several back-to-back top 10 finishes. Nevertheless, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver wants to correct that little slight, because it is a little unheard of to lead the championship without winning.
