The job of a spotter in NASCAR can be straightforward but challenging on many occasions. Now, one of the more experienced guys in the field and veteran spotter Tyler Monn will be presented with a new mission when he takes to spotting for Kyle Larson in the upcoming season. Undoubtedly, Monn’s experience will be important and would help aid Larson’s objectives on the track.

Monn had previously worked as a spotter for Rick Ware Racing drivers, primarily with JJ Yeley in the No.27 car. It will thus serve Larson in good stead, knowing that he has the required spotting experience in the Cup Series division itself.

Despite signing the contract with Hendrick Motorsports, Monn’s commitments will reportedly extend to the Xfinity and Trucks Series as well. He will continue to work for AM Racing and SS GreenLight Racing in the two respective divisions and lend his knowledge to both teams.

According to reports, the veteran spotter also worked with Austin Wayne Self in the 2020 Truck Series campaign. Driving for AM Racing, Austin, alongside Monn, secured a best finish of seventh in the race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Monn was also apparently involved in SS-Green Light Racing driver David Starr’s impressive 13th place finish once again at Texas later in the 2020 Xfinity campaign. Quite naturally, these factoids do show that Larson’s new spotter is a man with some genuine talent.

Monn’s experience could well prove worthy for Larson, who makes his return to the Cup Series. It is an opportunity at a premier and successful team for both entities, and together, their partnership will decide their success in the 2021 season.

Monn’s tutelage will also come in handy considering that his past experience has involved dealing with backmarkers. Navigation through traffic and precious information regarding nearest rivals will suit Larson when he would naturally be battling in the top half of the grid more times than not.

The Hendrick Motorsports No.5 also has a shot at proving that he is a much more enhanced driver in the new season. Combine that with his spotter’s calm demeanor and experience, and Larson might just become much a fiercer driver on the track.
