Much of the talk leading up to the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season revolves around whether Kyle Busch can put behind the disappointment of the 2020 season. The two-time Cup champion had a rare ‘very bad’ season, where he managed to sneak in just a win to keep his streak alive.

It is important for Busch to strike back sooner than later and there is pressure on him to do so. However, if the past is any indication, Busch is quite strongly poised to produce a multi-win season.

To elaborate further, on three past occasions when Busch secured just one win in a season, he ensured that he made a brilliant comeback the very next year.

How Kyle Busch bounced back after every disappointment

Back in 2007, a 22-year-old Busch recorded just one win in the Cup Series. In 2008, he stunned the field with as many as eight wins for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Then again, in 2013, Busch scored four wins after a single-win 2012 campaign. The 2014 season again saw the no. 18 driver register just the solitary win.

Busch then produced one of his best-ever years in NASCAR in 2015, winning five races on his way to his maiden NASCAR Cup Series championship. Since then, he has won at least four races each season, until the 2020 season broke that run.

So if history is to repeat itself, Kyle Busch could be in for another massive season in the Cup Series. He is already closing in on 60 race wins in the top division of the sport, and that will be added motivation for him to notch up some wins.

In the 2020 season, Busch extended his streak of consecutive seasons with at least one win to 16. He is two away from the record held by Richard Petty and will hope that his first win in 2021 comes sooner than later.

Busch will certainly miss the presence of Adam Stevens atop his pit box. However, he will look forward to a new partnership with crew chief Ben Beshore.

In the off-season, Busch warmed up in a race car at the Snowball Derby. However, he has been actively involved in coaching and mentoring son Brexton as the young kid participates in various races.

Come the 2021 season, it will be no surprise whatsoever if we see a pumped Kyle Busch from the get-go.
