Defending NASCAR champion Kyle Larson made a massive announcement. He partnered with three-time World of Outlaws champion Brad Sweet for a new project. To be precise, the two of them are taking a page out of Tony Stewart’s book and establishing a new dirt series. Over here, the primary objective is to help elevate sprint car racing as a sport.

This new series is expected to boast of a 12-race schedule of midweek races in the 2023 season. What sets this series apart is that each race has a large purse, and the idea is to attract top sprint car racers. Obviously, Larson and Sweet will compete as well, and they hope to rope in star racers for each event.

Larson said, “I believe we’ll be able to get all the best drivers in the country at a lot of the races, so I think that’s what’s going to be unique about our series. You can watch the best sprint car drivers in the world race hard for 12 nights of the year in the middle of the week.”

What did the fans say about this new project of Kyle Larson?

Surprisingly, there were a fair number of fans who were not so receptive to the move. Some people did not consider dirt racing as a real sport. Meanwhile, others were a bit tired of seeing yet another dirt racing series.

A few also felt that the dirt events had a larger purse than their asphalt counterparts.

Regardless of people’s opinion, the series looks like it will go ahead, spearheaded by Larson and Sweet. Though it is worth noting that Kyle Larson may have considered where his priorities lie. It will be pretty difficult for him to juggle his Cup Series duties, alongside his dirt racing exploits.
