Just like any other top-tier racing series, the competition of NASCAR can get pretty tense for the drivers. And sometimes even great friends fight with each other. This is exactly what happened with Bubba Wallace and Corey LaJoie.

In a recent episode of Stacking Pennies with Corey LaJoie, the two recalled the run-in they had at Dover.

When the co-host asked Wallace if he was more pissed at their run-in at Phoenix 2021, or Dover back in 2012 during the K&N series, the 23XI Racing driver didn’t think twice before giving a clear answer.

“Definitely Dover.”

Which surprised LaJoie, because he thought the answer would be Phoenix as he said, “You didn’t talk to me for fu*king three months after Phoenix.”

He added, “We get to Daytona. I’m like, ‘hey man I’ve been texting you once a week for three months'” Corey then gave the reply that Wallace gave him, mimicking his voice, “that’s alright man my phone didn’t work”

Wallace jokingly added on to the episode at Phoenix as he recalled an incident right after the race.
“He called me. He was standing outside the plane at phoenix calling me and I was sitting on the plane looking at him out the window, just, IGNORE!”
But why was Bubba mad at him at Dover? What did LaJoie do? Well, let’s find out.

What Did Corey LaJoie Do To Bubba Wallace At Dover?

Essentially, LaJoie had a loose bumper cover and made some interesting moves on a fellow driver, Brandon Gdovic, blocking Bubba from taking the win.

Corey explained, “Brandon Gdovic was lucky dog, he and I like was nice to him all year long waiting for this moment and I kind of blocked them to not let him pass me for the lucky dog.”

“And I was pointing at the window like ‘hey, hey’ and the bumper cover was attached like two pop rivets and he took like two swipes at it and he knocked it off. And they like rescinded the black flag and put it in the wind.”

This clearly annoyed Wallace. In fact, he even asked to penalize them, “You’re sitting here watching like, ‘what are they doing like this isn’t right, penalize them!”

But hey, what matters is, at the end of the day the two are still good friends! And a little friendly rivalry just makes racing more interesting.
