The NBA 2020 All-Star Reserves have been announced. Fans are shocked that some names have not made the cut.
Earlier this month, the Captains and Starters had been announced. LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been chosen as Captains.

NBA All-Star 2020: Snubs

Fans were in shock as some very prominent names were missing from the pool. Picking the All-Star rosters is not a perfect process. There are conference and position requirements, and input from four different groups: fans, media, coaches and players. They do a pretty good job, but it’s not always an exact representation of the 24 best players in the league. Heres a look at some of the most notable snubs in the NBA All-Star 2020.

The Clippers star has missed 21 games or nearly half the season. This likely played a big role in him not making the team. Because when he’s been on the floor he’s been awesome. He has been putting up 23.5 points, six rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 39.5 per cent from 3.

 Bradley Beal:

Bradley Beal has to be pretty disappointed he didn’t make the team for a third straight season. He’s currently sixth in the league in scoring, dropping an impressive 28.6 points per game, which would be a new career-high.

DeMar DeRozan

Looking through the list of the All-Stars, one might have noticed that no San Antonio Spurs made the team. There are many teams without All-Stars, but the Spurs not having any is notable because it’s the first time that has happened since way back in 1997. The Spurs’ struggle to live up to their reputation might be a reason why DeRozan isn’t going to the All-Star 2020.

DeRozan is averaging 23.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting over 53 per cent from the floor. He ranks well ahead of the likes of Brandon Ingram and Russell Westbrook in terms of win shares while also playing in more games.

 Devin Booker

Devin Booker once again missed out. The fifth-year sharpshooter has become an even better scorer this season, putting up 27.1 points per game, which is eighth in the league. He’s also dishing out 6.4 assists, and grabbing 4.1 rebounds a night while trying to drag the Suns into the playoffs — they’re 3.5 games out of the eighth spot right now.
Booker has 5.2 win shares, more than both Westbrook and Donovan Mitchell.

Jaelyn Brown:

The 23-year-old is averaging 20.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 rebounds while shooting close to 50 per cent from the field and nearly 40 per cent from beyond the arc. Brown was also one of the guys to pick up the slack in Gordon Hayward’s absence.

“I’m not disappointed. I think there are a lot of guys that you have to choose from. A lot of guys having a good year. It is what it is.”

Although he doesn’t feel slighted by not being selected, Brown says that won’t stop him from using it as mental fuel for the remainder of the season.

“I try and use anything and look for anything and everything as motivation,” said Brown, who has his eyes set on a bigger prize.

“Just start gearing up your mind, getting ready for the playoffs…that is the stage you want to be on.”

 Zach LaVine

Zach LaVine will not be participating in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game in Chicago. LaVine, who has been on a tear this season, did not make the cut. The sixth-year guard has played in all 50 games, averaging 25.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 38 per cent from beyond the arc on 8.1 attempts per game.

Zach is only 24 years old and has become a solid number one option for the Bulls this year. Hopefully, he can continue playing at this level and earn a nod in the 2021 All-Star game.

With injuries and uncertainly surrounding the Bulls as the trade deadline approaches, the team and the fanbase could have used this small victory.
