Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has one habit that makes him stand out. He is one of the game’s greatest players and is arguably the greatest shooter ever. But he is known to do one thing which not a lot of players do, and that is chewing his mouth guard. But this same habit cost the $160 million dollar star about $75000 in fines.
Over the years, we have all seen Curry chew on his mouthguard. And he does that on a regular basis. Often during timeouts and when not playing, Curry is seen chewing on his guard. Many fans have said that this habit might not be healthy. But that hasn’t deterred Curry from continuing to do it.

But he has gotten into trouble on a couple of occasions due to his iconic mouthguard.
The league fined Stephen Curry $75,000 for throwing his mouthguard
It was Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals. The Warriors were trailing big against the Cavs and were trying to avoid a Game 7. Curry was having his best game of the series, but he also got into foul trouble. And with a little over four minutes to go, Curry was trying his best to get the Warriors back into the game. And he tried to steal the ball.

But the refs found his action illegal and called a questionable foul on him. This caused Curry to get irate, as this was his sixth foul, and would have to leave the game. And he threw his mouthpiece at a fan in anger. This made him get ejected, and this was Curry’s first ejection of his NBA career.

The second time was after he won his second championship. It was a regular season game against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Warriors were trying to come back in this game well. Curry drove to the rim and he finished a layup and he seemed to get fouled in the process. But there was no call.
This caused Curry to lose anger again, and he threw his mouthguard at the referee. And this led to an automatic ejection. The league also fined him on both occasions. For the first time, he was fined $25,000, while the second time he was fined $50,000 for a total of $75,000.

Chewing the mouthguard may be Curry’s signature look. He has been doing into for a long time now and he says it helps him calm his nerves. However, after receiving such fines, Curry might just avoid not throwing them at anyone or he might continue to get fined by the league.
