He remarked, ” I feel like Black Jesus, yeah”. Edwards gave a Michael Jordan reference here. Jordan once famously called himself Black Jesus which became a nickname for him.

Why was Jordan known as Black Jesus?

Michael Jordan has been referred to using many nicknames throughout his career. The nickname ‘Black Jesus’ was revealed by Reggie Miller. Miller talked about the story behind the name during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jordan was already a household name, and he decided to put the young star in his place. During a pre-season game in 1987, the Indiana Pacers took on the Chicago Bulls. Before the match, a Pacers player decided to trash talk MJ. He said, “Can you believe Michael Jordan, the guy everyone’s talking about, who’s supposed to be able to walk on water? You’re out here killing him, Reg !”

Jordan responded on the court. He ended up with 44 points during the game and as he was walking off, Jordan mentioned, “Be careful, you never talk to Black Jesus like that.” That’s the origin behind the Black Jesus nickname of Jordan.
