LeBron James’ legacy began in Akron. He also has his home city tattoed on the back; his tattoo says ‘The Kid From Akron.’ LeBron grew up on the streets of Akron with a single mother. In his journey of becoming the King of the league, he established a multi-million dollar business empire as well. As of now he has multiple investments and has achieved the billionaire status. James is the only the second NBA player and only the first active athlete to reach the $1 billion mark in net worth.

But billionaire Bron has also done massive things for his hometown and community. ‘I Promise’ school from LeBron gives the kids in Akron the opportunity to educate themselves, play basketball and stay out of the streets. The mission was to bring the most ‘at risk’ students into the foundation and elevate them with education. LeBron promises the students free food, tuition, and transport within 2 miles. Moreover, the school provides a pantry for the families, bicycles and helmets for the kids. He promises every graduate a free ride to the University of Akron.

LeBron has reportedly spent over $ 2 million to give back to his city through the ‘I Promise’ foundation and continues to spend more. Being himself from the streets, he knows how difficult it is for a child to go through those times. He had it rough growing up. His father was reportedly in prison and his mother struggled with jobs. The violence in his neighborhoods was traumatic for LeBron. So now when he has achieved so much he makes sure to help as many kids as possible so that they don’t have to go through the tough situations he had to.

Bron is actively involved in the schools and routinely pays a visit. He fulfilled his decade-long promise to bring a championship to Cleveland in 2016 against the Warriors. He has taken his promise further and taken the ownership to keep ‘at risk’ students and families away from the streets through education. Bron recently surprised the students before their summer break and posted about it on Instagram.
