After surrounding drama and a terrifying start to the season, the Brooklyn Nets look to have pulled things back. The side led by Kevin Durant is one of the hottest teams in the league. In midst of a nine-game winning streak, their recent triumph came over title contenders, Cleveland Cavaliers. It was a special occasion for one man, in particular, Kyrie Irving. Returning to the place where he began his NBA story, KI reflected on his growth as a star. However, he managed to leave an unpleasant impact on the Cavs fans.

In 2011, Irving came into the NBA as the number one overall pick. It was right around the time LeBron James joined the Miami Heat with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Likewise, while the seven-time All-Star played his heart out winning Rookie of The Year honors, the Cavaliers won just 19 games without the King. The following three seasons were rough as Cleveland never made the postseason. However, when James announced his epic return in 2014, it took them just two years to bring a title home.

As free agency approached, Irving gave fans a sigh of relief announcing his plans to stay in Cleveland. However, that would eventually become the moment fans would come to repent. After the claims of wanting to stay a Cavalier, KAI left to join the Boston Celtics. Since then he has been seen as an enemy, and today he might have added to that reputation.

“Can’t Believe My Eyes”: Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant Leave NBA Fans Floored With Latest Win Streak

Irving said, “I wanted to just create my own legacy. In order to do that I had to endure some rough years where we only had a few thousand people in the stands. At time, I was feeling like a lone ranger or a lone superhero trying to bring Cleveland back to the top. I think the greatest lesson I learned throughout that process was you know, it’s not a lonely road you’re supposed to take on your own.”

As far as Irving’s legacy goes, he has arguably cemented himself as one of the best players to wear a Cleveland uniform. Not only did he learn the value of teammates, but it remains to be the only place he forged a path to winning a championship. His shot against the Golden State Warriors still echoes in the heart of Cleveland. His former teammate, Kevin Love even claimed his jersey will hang in the rafters one day.
