It is the dynamic and extremely competitive nature of the NBA games that make them so thrilling. Everyone admires those one-on-ones between the world’s best hoopsters. And when it is about Warriors’ Stephen Curry vs Blazers’ Damian Lillard, it’s just mouthwatering.

The two star point guards of the game are widely known for their shooting prowess. They are also the face of their respective franchises. Recently, both got involved in banter on social media and ended up challenging one another ahead of their first regular-season clash. Perhaps, Dame won that battle as did the Blazers with a 123-98 blowout victory.

Earlier, the 30-YO Lillard had assessed and claimed that things for Curry are different now as he plays with a remarkably new team. He was signaling towards the fact that securing that floor space and open looks is difficult in the absence of Klay Thompson or another legend like Kevin Durant.

Just as these comments picked heat, it was the Warriors’ head coach who dropped his opinion on the comment. The 55-YO coach exclaimed, “Damian Lillard was right to say that. They did a good job taking him out. Now, we need to do a better job of putting him in better positions.”

These comments from Steve came as a result of a huge loss against the Blazers. In that game, Damian Lillard recorded a 60% accuracy from downtown as he dropped six bombs. Curry, on the other hand, could convert only 33.33% of his 12 attempts. In fact, Dame outscored Curry in almost every facet of that game.

Damian Lillard vs Curry: The past and the present

The 3-time NBA Champion has given Dame a nightmarish time prior to this season. They’ve both played in 31 games against one another with Steph leading the clash 24-7. In the playoffs, they are 10-0 with Curry as a clear winner.

Having said that, it is ‘Dame time’ now and the way Lillard has been performing since the past season, it seems he is ready to dominate the rivalry. Lillard averaged 30 points in the 2019-20 season and has a very strong starting roster to help his cause.

CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic make the lineup dependable and veteran Carmelo Anthony ensures the best kind of leadership any bench can ask for.

Steph misses all those things. Recently, an NBA analyst went to lengths calling the pieces around Curry as “G-league players”. That’s disrespectful, and the Warriors will surely make a comeback to show how they can still make a difference.
