Despite Paying Rent, Dennis Rodman Was Forced to Move Out from Billionaire Owner’s House Due to One Big Reason in 2000

Dennis Rodman’s entire career was filled with both triumphs and controversies. The controversies lasted till his last years in the league. Rodman and David Stern’s feud was frequently in the headlines at the time when he was in the NBA. Dennis Rodman concluded his NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks in 2000. He believed that he was forced to leave Mavs’ billionaire owner Mark Cuban’s guest house as a result of his beef with Stern.

The most pierced man and the most tattooed man in the history of the NBA got what he wanted in Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks. Rodman considered himself a competitive athlete and could do anything in order to get a win for the team. Mark Cuban loved his determination. So as a reward, Cuban granted him permission to skip practices and arrive late for games. The amicable billionaire even became Rodman’s landlord, allowing him to live in his guest house.

However, another scandal was brewing in the NBA, as Rodman was engaged in a verbal dispute with the NBA’s commissioner at the time, David Stern. And the feud between them has lasted for years. As a result, Rodman believed that he was forced to leave Cuban’s guest house in 2000 despite paying rent as a direct consequence of his feud with Stern. That action, according to Stern, was taken as a result of a violation of the salary cap rules. Rodman was given 72 hours to leave the premises. He was eventually relocated to a high-rise apartment.

Dennis Rodman had several rivals during his career, but his rivalry with David Stern is well known. And they’ve locked horns several times. It all started when Rodman began getting tattoos in the early 1990s, displaying his “Bad boy” persona. Stern had warned him about it, threatening to kick him out of the league. But Rodman in typical fashion got another tattoo despite the warning.

Later on, Rodman headbutted a referee in 1996 and was suspended by Stern. And following that, there were a series of events until 2000. Frustrated by Stern’s actions, the Chicago Bulls legend openly challenged him to a fight. He said, “ Like I said last night, let’s get into the ring. He gets naked, I get naked, and let’s go in and get it on, brother.”
