LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will have their hands full over the next few weeks. With Anthony Davis sidelined due to an injury, the Lakers’ supporting cast needs to step up in his place.

Tonight, the purple and gold faced off against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game ended in a 112-14 victory for the LA Lakers as LeBron James had yet another stunning game. LBJ finished the fixture with 30 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 13-of-20 from the field.

Needless to say, the purple and gold are in fine form and they adjusted pretty well to fill in the wide gap left by Anthony Davis. But can the reigning champions maintain this form for their upcoming games as well?

Lakers’ Marc Gasol on LeBron James’ leadership

In the post-game interview, Lakers center Marc Gasol shared his thoughts on the recipe for success for his team in the absence of AD. Gasol said, “It’s important to grow as a team. I think defensively, we had a little bit more urgency. You don’t have AD on the back, kind of saving a lot of possessions… So we set the tone, we were winding up the ball, we were able to get out and run a little bit and get easy transition points.”

Gasol further talked about LeBron stepping up and shouldering a larger burden in the absence of Davis. Gasol said, “He does it all, very unselfish, great mind, has all the tools. Happy he’s on my team or I’m on his team [laughs].”
