‘Doing Their Part’: Lakers’ LeBron James Praises Teammates for Giving Their Best in Anthony Davis’ Absence

LeBron James-led LA Lakers faced off against the Miami Heat tonight in their 2020 NBA Finals rematch. However, this time around, the purple and gold were on the losing end. They surely missed the presence of their defensive anchor, Anthony Davis, on the floor.
AD, who is sidelined for the coming weeks due to a calf strain, has been the primary defender for the team. But in his absence, the Heat took advantage of this situation, as they won by 2 points.
For the Lakers, this is their second consecutive defeat as the defending champions are struggling right now. While LeBron James is handling most of the offensive burden without AD, the defense is a bigger problem for the purple and gold.

LeBron James talks about his teammates’ efforts
Against the Miami Heat, both Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Alex Caruso picked up the defensive slack. But it wasn’t still enough to hold Miami off. In the post game interview, LeBron spoke about KCP and AC’s efforts and how the team is dealing with AD being sidelined. He said:
“They are doing their part. They are doing their part and more. Every time we’re out on the floor, we’re all trying to protect each other and bring each other up out on the floor every single night. It doesn’t matter if you are making shots or not, we’re going to hold each other accountable, and everybody is picking up in AD’s absence.

In their defeat against the Heat, LeBron finished the game with 19 points. Although it’s lower than his usual production, James filled the stat sheet. He was just one assist and rebound shy off a triple double.

The only flaw in his game was his poor three-point shooting. James was just 1-8 from beyond the arc, which is one of the reasons for the Lakers’ defeat. But do you think LA can hold off until AD returns? Let us know your views in the comments section down below.
