Even After Not Saying a Word, Shaquille O’Neal Belittles Ben Simmons’ Mental Health Narrative Despite “LSU Brothers” Outreach

On ‘The Old Man and Three Podcast’, Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons discussed his perspective on various issues. During the post-season of 2021, he was regarded as one of the best defensive players currently in the NBA. 

Nonetheless, the fans are quite disappointed with his performances, especially after the season ended. The topic of his mental health was brought up on several occasions.

Throughout his responses to the questions, he spoke about his mental health, his current situation with the team, as well as what he was looking forward to about the upcoming season. During the conversation, he even referred to NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. 

In many instances, Shaq has commented on Simmons’ situation. In order to understand the situation, it all began after the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021 NBA playoffs.

In addition to struggling with mental health issues, he got injured during the off-season. Last season, Simmons was traded to the Brooklyn Nets for James Harden. In the aftermath of the interview, Shaquille O’Neal gave his take on the Simmons case. 

Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons had this to say about Shaquille O’Neal

Shaq often pointed out Simmons’ performance, as fans have seen several times. As they both went to LSU, Shaq also had a talk with the Brooklyn Nets player. In JJ Redick’s podcast, however, the Nets star described what happened. 

“If you’re my LSU brother you would’ve reached out by now and it’s been months since I’ve been dealing with this. You ain’t reached out once and said like, ‘Hey, you OK?’ Like, what’s going on,” according to Simmons.

As a result of this, Shaq brought it up in his podcast episode, ‘The Big Tree,’ where he shared his reaction. Furthermore, they discussed the whole situation in which Ben Simmons was said to have taken his phone to practice.

Upon finding out, Shaq ignored the hosts and pretended he was calling someone and asking how they were doing. Shaq and the Nets star seem to be in the middle of a big argument these days.
