At the beginning of the season, the Celtics weren’t a team to root for. Not only did they struggle to win, but their basketball didn’t look pretty. Arguments kept flowing in over the duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum coexisting on the same floor. However, one embarrassing loss to the Knicks really changed things around for Boston.
Udoka fired them up, and the forces did not disappoint. Going from the 11th seed all the way up to the second seed, they pulled off a miracle. Now, with a lead in the finals, all problems seem to have faded in the mist. However, not all players could stay the whole journey.

Former Celtics player destroys finalist with selfish players remark
Juan Hernangomez played just 18 games with the Celtics in his stint. However, in that time, he seriously grew to dislike their way of playing the game. He went off on a rant saying there were selfish players in Boston. Moreover, according to him, the communication was absent and there was no clear indication of his role with the team. This became clear as he played averaged just 5 minutes per game for the NBA finalists.
He said: “I wasn’t happy there, it was very hard. There was no communication, I didn’t know what was expected of me. There were many super selfish players, no team building. I lost my love for basketball a bit.”

Early into the season, the Celtics were a mess. Failing to find any sort of balance, they were the 11th seed at one point. However, first-time head coach Udoka was able to fire the team. From there on out, the Celtics went out on a mission. Winning 28 of their last 35 games, they asserted themselves as the best team in basketball in that timeframe.
In addition, they jumped into the second seed. Tatum became an MVP candidate while Brown was the best number 2. Marcus Smart went on to make history winning DPOY as a guard. These Celtics looked dangerous on the floor as they dominated on both ends of the floor.
