Kevin Garnett mentioned how the Grizzlies superstar needs to take up more responsibility for upholding his status as one of the NBA’s brightest talents. Allen Iverson and Ja Morant have been touted as similar players by many over the past few years. However, that isn’t why Garnett advised Morant to seek help from Iverson.

Back in the day, before Iverson became the NBA MVP, he had a few unfortunate run-ins with the law. The 76ers legend came back from those dark days to be exceptional on the court and etch his name in the annals of Basketball History. However, Garnett also expressed hope for the 23-year-old youngster moving forward from this controversy, while reminding everyone what Ja’s name actually means.

“Everybody out here watching this, go research the name Ja and see what it means, it’s a whole another meaning to that,” Garnett said.

“And that’s what you gotta understand… boy, you God boy.” he added.

Garnett and Pierce also addressed how the attention economy in today’s age of social media prompts young kids to do these stupid things. Many superstars and legends across the NBA have tried to give advice to the young superstar, but what he does with all that is yet to be seen. The Grizzlies fans would certainly hope that they can keep all this in the past and Morant can return to the court as soon as possible.
