Ben Simmons was drafted in 2016 by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, last year Philadelphia involved Ben Simmons’ name in trade talks to bring in James Harden. Although trade did not take place at the time, it surely ruptured the relationship between the player and the team. It is very likely to happen that the player and the team stop being on the same page when a team publicly shows the desire to trade off a player. This is exactly what happened with Ben Simmons and the 76ers.

Despite some top performances for the 76ers in his 6 years, the team had a different future planned. Evidently, it included James Harden more than Ben Simmons, as they were willing to trade off Simmons in order to bring in Harden. This eventually did happen after a saga that lasted almost a year.

Ben Simmons might make his debut for the Nets soon

The Ben Simmons and James Harden trade did happen before 10th February in practically the last minutes of the deadline. Simmons was reportedly struggling with mental health issues and wanted the trade at the end. The Nets knew the complications of the trade as they traded out Harden in exchange for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round picks. They knew that Simmons might take his time before making his debut for the team.

But according to Ramona Shelburne on NBA Today, his debut might not be that far.

Ramona Shelburne on NBA Today also admitted that it was not good for anyone involved in the trade. The three on ESPN NBA Today also talked about how when a player wishes to leave a team it not only sets back the team’s planning for years to come but also damages the fans’ trust.

The opposite in this situation is also true when a team wishes publicly to part ways with a player it often ends in a rift between both parties which is not good for anyone.
