The recent game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies gave the fans a much-anticipated matchup between Ja Morant and LeBron James. However, it was an incident not pertaining to the game itself, which grabbed most of the headlines. NFL legend and eminent media personality, Shannon Sharpe got into an altercation with Ja Morant’s father. This came after a verbal back-and-forth between Sharpe and some Grizzlies players.

Following the match, Ja Morant was asked to comment on the issue during the press conference. However, he refused to comment on the situation and also added a cheeky little comment for Sharpe towards the end of the press conference.

Ja Morant refuses to speak out on the Shannon Sharpe fiasco, except for a sly remark

Four-time NBA champion LeBron James and Grizzlies star Dillon Brooks battled for position right in front of where Shannon Sharpe was sitting courtside during the Lakers’ game at Crypto.com arena. Following James’ successful play, Brooks and Sharpe shared some words.

This sparked the initial tension between the Grizzlies’ team and the NFL legend. Ja Morant pulled off a halftime buzzer shot and Sharpe had something to say to him. However, Steven Adams got in the way of the two and this is when all hell broke loose.

The crowd of Grizzlies’ members, which included Tee Morant, Ja’s father, got involved in the huge skirmish and ultimately the security had to get involved to separate the crowd. When asked whether Sharpe played a role in the altercation or not in the post-game press conference, Morant didn’t have a lot to say. “Let me think. Nah. I ain’t going to address that. I’m going to let him lay over there”, said Morant, as per a recent video clip captured by Sports Columnist Mirjam Swanson.

However, it seems the hard feelings have been resolved between Sharpe and Ja Morant’s father. The two were snapped hugging shortly after and Morant has also dismissed the whole incident as trash talk.

On the other hand, Sharpe has offered his side of the story. According to him, Brooks’ words for him triggered the tension which also led to the two hurling verbal slurs at each other.

Keeping all controversies aside, the game was an all-out entertainer for fans around the world. This exciting encounter was won by the Los Angeles Lakers 122-121.

Ja Morant had a slow day at the office. He scored 22 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds. Although these are some great stats, Morant has been in great form lately and much more is expected of him. From the Lakers, James led the scoring with 23 points, 6 points, and 9 rebounds.
