Game 6 of the series between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors seemed like a grudge match. There was intensity, drama, and perhaps a little touch of everything one would want from a ballgame this crucial. People in the bleachers and those watching at home must have been fixated on the enthralling battle. Former Warriors guard Jeremy Lin was among those watching the action from the comfort of their home. 

Impressed by the Warriors’ amazing performance, Jeremy Lin couldn’t help but tweet. One player who impressed the former Warrior, in particular, was Jordan Poole. “As Jordan Poole’s former teammate, I can’t be happier for him! Great dude, great hooper. And when JP is hot and can supplement Steph/Klay’s offense, GSW is basically unguardable” Lin tweeted.

Jordan Poole has established himself as another household name among the Warriors supporters. The third-year player has taken a huge jump from his rookie and sophomore years and was one of the top candidates to take home Most Improved Player. 

He has quickly established himself as a fan favorite in the Golden State community, also adding Jeremy Lin to his fan club. Lin, who himself knows a thing or two about being a fan favorite during his days with Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers, was left thrilled by seeing the 22-year-old ball out. 

Is Jordan Poole Stephen Curry 2.0?

Poole’s heroics in the NBA this season have, fortunately, not flown under the radar. Luckily for him, he continued to earn opportunities to showcase his skillset in the unavailability of either Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson from the starting lineup.

Poole emerged as an essential part of the Dubs’ game plan after breaking into the starting lineup somewhere during the start of this season.  While Klay Thompson was working his way back to the team after a two-and-a-half-year layoff, the 22-year-old guard did everything he could to retain his position at the top of Steve Kerr’s rotations. 

His off-season preparation paid dividends in an unusual way for the Warriors. Shortly after Thompson returned and Poole was moved to the bench, Steph Curry suffered an injured left foot.

Poole returned to the starting lineup and made an even considerable contribution. Much greater than anyone could have predicted. 

Poole averaged 26.0 points in 13 games since the day Steph was injured until the Warriors’ final match of the regular season, shooting 42.7% from the field and 38.2% from the 3-point line. And he sustained that momentum in the postseason, which left Dub Nation speechless.

Poole posted 30 points in his maiden playoff game, leading the Dubs against the Nuggets in Game 1.  He fared even better in the second encounter, putting up 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists. Since then, he has performed brilliantly and is one of the key reasons the Warriors are in the Western Conference finals.

Therefore, dubbing him Steph Curry 2.0 would be unfair to the young gun’s hard work. Poole has carved a niche for himself, thus all credit should be given to his name alone. However, Warriors fans already recognize Jordan Poole as the ideal candidate to join the ranks of the “Splash Brothers.”
