Joel Embiid Is Trying His Best to Make a Kevin Durant and James Harden Reunion Possible, Claim Sources

The spectacle occurring in the city of Brooklyn is entertaining for the neutral fans and agonizing for Brooklyn Nets lovers. After Kyrie Irving exercised his player option for the 2022-23 season, the 7/11 era seemed to be alive and well. With Kevin Durant requesting a trade though, Nets fans can probably visualize the Barclays Center engulfed in flames.

Irving, a few days ago, appeared to be the first domino to fall in Brooklyn. Durant though is the one looking for a breath of fresh air after all these seasons in Brooklyn bore no fruits.

Following the human sniper’s enormous bombshell, numerous suitors have surfaced who will be craving for his sharp skills. Joel Embiid appears to be one of several NBA stars that want Kevin Durant to join forces with them.

Despite their frequent verbal battles on the floor, the Philadelphia 76ers star has never concealed his respect for Durant. He even pleaded with the Sixers front office to sign KD in 2016. However, that didn’t materialize as he took his talents to the Bay Area.

Embiid, however, doesn’t want to miss out on another huge opportunity to pair up with Durant. The recent reports indicate that he wants the franchise to clear house if that is what it takes to bring KD to Philly.

Following Durant putting in the request for a trade, Joel Embiid expressed his feelings with an acronym that encapsulates the emotions of the majority of the NBA universe. The reaction also perfectly summarizes the entire mess that the Brooklyn Nets have been in over the last few months.

While Embiid’s reaction appeared to be a simple one, recent sources have indicated that he wants Durant in Philly. According to Jack Settleman, the skilled center is  making a “strong push” to entice KD to don a Sixers jersey.

This rumor was fueled by Jason Dumas, who stated that Embiid wants the Sixers to “exhaust every option” in an attempt to acquire Durant.

If the Sixers are planning a trade for Durant, they will definitely have the necessary personnel. Tyrese Maxey would very likely be at the heart of the deal.  However, the list of assets from there becomes less spectacular. Tobias Harris would possibly be included to make the salary work, as would Matisse Thybulle and a handful of draft picks.

If the Sixers can land Durant, he will be reunited with his former Oklahoma City Thunder and Nets teammate, James Harden. Durant and Harden have long scared their opponents whenever they have teamed up. With Joel Embiid also in the mix, the hypothetical Philly “Big 3” would present a threat to the rest of the NBA.

No one knows what lies next for Kevin Durant. This NBA off-season however, has got a boatload to offer and could change the complexion of the league in the next few weeks.
