The Brooklyn Nets look down and out. They have lost not one, not two but all three of the games played in the first round of the playoffs. The Boston Celtics lead the 7-game series 3-0 after two games at the TD Garden and one at the Barclays Center. The first game was the closest the Nets came to a victory thanks to a 39 points game for Kyrie Irving. But they lost the next two games with a margin of 6-7 points.

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics were just too good for the Nets in all three matches. The Celtics looked like losing the last match before a last-second buzzer-beater spinning layup. After that, the next two games have just been the Celtics all the way. Jayson Tatum was in form for all of the three games. On the other hand, the star duo of Kyrie and KD has been nothing short of underwhelming.

Although the first game was a good one for Kyrie, KD underperformed in that too. The next two games were uncharacteristic for both superstars and veterans of the game. Game 2 saw Kyrie and KD get a total of just 37 points and even less in game 3, mere 32 points combined.

However, after going 3-0 down, Kyrie had a few things to say about the situation. His comments sent the NBA Twitter into a frenzy.

NBA fans rip apart the Nets after Kyrie Irving drops massive statement

Kyrie dropped a harsh reality check on his team after the 3-0 trail against the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. He compared the situation that to the situation he had with LeBron James at the Cleveland Cavaliers when they were 3-1 down in the NBA finals. “Being down 3-1 in the Finals was a totally different situation than what we’re in right now,” said Kyrie.

The fans went after the Nets, Kyrie and KD in particular after Kyrie compared the two situations.

With all due respect to Kevin Durant, LeBron James was a beast in the NBA finals in 2016. Where KD and Kyrie have disappointed, a lot of credit has to go to the defense of the Celtics.

They have not given any breathing space to either of the two and have contained them very well. The Nets now have to win all 4 games in the series to advance. With Kyrie and KD, being the best they can be, it is not impossible. However, it looks unlikely.
