Kobe Bryant Once Pipped Johnny Depp as His Favorite Actor Over Leonardo DiCaprio and Other Oscar Winners

Superstar Johnny Depp is considered one of the best actors ever by many. And he was also NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s favorite actor along with Robert De Niro. Even though Johnny Depp’s life is turned upside down after marrying Amber Heard, his fans are staying loyal to him. 

Roger Friedman reported his encounter with Kobe Bryant at the premiere of Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” in 2009. He said that Kobe was truly nice, accessible, and ready to talk. Roger said that Kobe suddenly said to him about his favorite actresses, “First, Hillary Swank. Her focus is amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it. She’s my favorite. Second: Kate Winslet,”.

When asked who his favorite actors are, Kobe said, “Robert De Niro, for all his characters, and Johnny Depp.”. While Johnny Depp has won a Golden Globe award, he hasn’t won an Oscar Award yet. Notably, the author claims that Kobe thought that Tiger Woods would survive his scandal.

At a time when Depp is trying to prove that he hasn’t physically hurt ex-wife Heard, one could only wonder whether Kobe would’ve sided with Depp or not if he was still alive.

Johnny Depp’s defamation suit

Amber Heard worked with Johnny Depp for the movie The Rum Diary. Depp started dating her after his breakup with Vanessa Paradis. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard married in February 2015. However, their marriage didn’t last long as Amber Heard filed for divorce in May 2016. And obtained a temporary restraining order alleging that he had been verbally and physically abusive throughout their relationship, usually while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

But Johnny Depp denied these claims. A settlement was reached in August 2016 and the divorce was finalized in January 2017.

Recently, Depp has filed a $50-million defamation suit against Amber Heard because of an article she had written for The Washington Post in 2018. Even though Johnny Depp’s name wasn’t mentioned anywhere, Depp has argued that it defamed him and cost him acting projects. 

The defamation trial started last week and is about to continue for at least six weeks. Both Heard and Depp have accused each other of physical violence.

Johnny was cross-examined by Amber Heard’s attorney on the fourth day of the trial. The audio clips were listened to by the court and Depp was asked about the audio clips. In the audio clips, Heard seemed to have said that no one would believe or respect Depp if she labeled him a drug abuser.
