What’s really causing these problems for the Los Angeles Lakers? A more apt question would be, who’s causing these problems? Before the season began, LeBron James and co. were one of the favorites for the title. Fast forward to early 2022, and the side has become the center of attention for all the wrong reasons. Is the age factor playing into the hands of the opposition, whenever they come up against LA?

An aging squad was going to be one of the prime concerns for Frank Vogel. As expected, injuries and their lack of exuberance have brought about their downfall. As a result, one of their veterans, Dwight Howard, is likely to be the first of many exits. Currently sitting in 7th, it is unlikely that the franchise will trust the 36-year-old going forward. But according to former Lakers player Kwame Brown, Howard is not at fault in any way.

Kwame Brown takes down LeBron James’ Lakers over handling of Dwight Howard

Despite their inefficiency, one thing has remained constant. 37-year-old LeBron James has been the unhinged spark in the Lakers attack. Averaging 29 points, over 6 assists, and close to 8 rebounds, he is the primary reason why the men in yellow are still within the top-8. His fellow partner from the late 30s however, had only played a role off the bench on most occasions.

Howard, who has played numerous seasons in the NBA now, is in the final stretch of his career. Expected to play crucial cameos, he hasn’t lived up to his bidding. But according to 39-year-old Kwame Brown, he can’t be blamed for his poor output.

Destroying the Lakers in a recent clip, the former center-forward sympathized with Dwight. “Dwight Howard, poor Dwight Howard. He come off the bench, cold as I don’t know what. Dudes be rolling, getting layups all day, and you expect a 30+ year-old man to come off the bench after sitting that long, ready to play defense? Yeah good luck with that.”
