Kyrie Irving and Nike’s business deal has come to a close. And if reports are true, then Irving’s departure had been in the talks since the beginning of this year. Notably, his controversy made things easy for Nike to move on. However, Irving’s loss became another NBA player’s gain. The player is none other than Ja Morant. The young NBA star will join the ranks of other esteemed players in the sneaker world.

During the latest episode of Showtime Basketball, former NBA champion Matt Barnes responded to the news surrounding Nike. Notably, Ja Morant is reportedly to come up with his signature shoe line.

Barnes gave a shout-out to Kyrie Irving for developing one of the top-selling sneakers of all time. The former Warriors star said that Irving’s designs really struck a chord with today’s generations. His co-host Jelani McCoy was seen nodding feverishly in agreement.

Kyrie Irving is currently a sneaker-free agent.

Where does that leave Nike? Memphis Grizzlies rising star Morant is going to take over that spot. And Barnes believes Nike has found their “perfect” choice in Morant.

Is Ja Morant the right choice?

As per Barnes, if both Morant and the giant apparel company collaborate well, his shoes would also do great numbers. The Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving’s $11 million dollar loss may benefit Morant big time.

He is the future face of the NBA“, said Barnes as he continued to say Morant’s shoes will be in the top 2 NBA selling shoes. “I have no doubt. So congratulations to Ja Morant!” He also extended his wishes and inspired Morant to “continue to elevate, my brother.”

The Nike Ja 1 is set to debut next year. The retail prices are over $90.

Notably, Morant is a 23-year-old explosive player. His average per game is as good as his ability to leap in the air and defy gravity! His shooting sprees are also a delight to watch for NBA fans, as is his playfulness on the court.
