“Luka Flu Game Tonight”: Fans Make Michael Jordan Comparisons With Luka Doncic as Dallas Star Drops a 40 Point Game While Being Ill vs Stephen Curry’s Warriors

Being unfit during the postseason is dangerous. The team works all season long and if the star player gets injured or is unwell, it’s a disaster. While players are forced to skip games being injured, being unwell or ill, the big players try to push through it. It is quite rare for professional athletes to get ill, but when it does happen they tend to look into priorities.

Michael Jordan once played while being unwell during the Finals. His legendary flu game had convinced everyone that he was indeed the greatest player to ever play at the time.

Luka Doncic had a better flu game than Michael Jordan

After game 1 of the West Finals, Luka reportedly wasn’t feeling well and was battling illness. He was up all night but wasn’t ruled out or held questionable for game 2. The news broke out about 7 hours before tip-off. Entering the game, Luka and the Mavs were scorching hot, as they led by 14 after the first half. At one point, the Mavs led by as many as 19 points. Though the Warriors turned their playoff mode on in the second half and won game 2 by 9 points. Luka Doncic scored a whopping 42 points while being ill. This reminded fans of Jordan’s flu game.

In 1997, Michael Jordan played a tough game versus the Jazz in the Finals. Michael was ill, though years later he confirmed it was food poisoning that bothered him. MJ scored 38 points in game 5 of the Finals, going up 3-2 in the series. Though Doncic and the Mavs put up a spectacular performance, they couldn’t hold the Dubs for long.

Doncic replicated Jordan’s flu game, but only better individually. While he nearly torched the Warriors, Stephen Curry stepped up and silenced the Mavs. As Luka dominated in game 2, it will be interesting to see whether the Mavs could the same in the next game having a home-court advantage. After beating the highly favored Suns, it is very much possible that the Mavs will make a comeback in this series.
