Players often get compared to the great Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Some are even touted as the next MJ as well. But for someone to compare himself to Jordan is quite a big pill to swallow. There aren’t many guys out there who have come close to Jordan’s legacy. Jordan was a one-of-a-kind player in himself.

So, when someone comes along and draws comparisons between himself and one of the all-time greats, it is bound to raise a few eyebrows.

Tyron Lue recalls his playing days with Michael Jordan in Washington

For someone like Tryon Lue to compare himself to MJ, makes it a hilarious gimmick. Well, that is how Tyron Lue meant it when he compared himself with the great Michael Jordan. Ty Lue is a former NBA player and the current head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers. He played 11 seasons in the NBA and won two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Though Lue was a role player for most of his career, he was famously known as the guy Allen Iverson stepped over. In a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Lue was guarding Iverson. AI went up for a shot and Lue contested.

He ended up tripping and falling down. And then Iverson went ahead and stepped over him to get back on defense. But that was Tyron Lue’s playing days. Since he has been a head coach, he was the one who won the NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, ending the city’s 52-year championship drought.

Now the head coach of the Clippers, Lue jokingly put His Airness and himself in the same category while talking to team player Norman Powell. He said, “Me and Michael Jordan didn’t make every shot either, and we’re two of the best to ever do it.”

Tyron Lue knows how to motivate his players

Lue was trying to talk Powell through his struggles on the bench. And you can be sure that must’ve brought a smile to Powell’s face. Powell did not have a good game against the Sacramento Kings.

He shot 1-10 from the field, scoring only 4 points for the game. Powell has been in the starting lineup replacing star Kawhi Leonard. Leonard and John Wall both are being brought off the bench by the Clippers coaching staff. This is done to ease them into their games since both players are coming off major injuries.

However, it makes you wonder how Michael Jordan would’ve reacted to this since Lue and Jordan did play together during MJ’s days with the Washington Wizards.
