One of the most liked celebrity athletes in the world is Shaquille O’Neal. He had one of the most glorious careers in the NBA, winning almost everything, and has quickly turned into one of the most recognizable faces in the world.

The things that characterized Shaq’s gameplay were physicality and breaking backboards! While everyone enjoyed watching Shaq break a backboard or two, a resurfaced video shows Shaq breaking a backboard that could have injured him badly.

Shaquille O’Neal breaks the backboard dangerously

Who doesn’t love Shaquille O’Neal? The seven-foot-one-inch giant has had a career to remember. Whether it is an MVP award, finals MVP, or an NBA title, Shaq has won it all. While he might be remembered for breaking the backboards during matches, a resurfaced video shows Shaq almost injuring himself in the process.

What seemed like an ordinary day in the office for Shaq could have turned costly very easily. A young O’Neal displayed his dunking skills to the camera and broke a backboard. However, things turned ugly as he fell to the ground. Although Shaq is seen laughing the matter off, an injury would have cost him very dearly.

When asked whether he is alright, a grounded Shaq replies, “I’m alright.” All while having a wide smile on his face despite facing this tragedy.

Interestingly enough, Shaquille O’Neal broke a backboard in his first season itself. This turned out to be one of the most iconic moments in Shaq’s career.

Shaq announces himself to the league

While Shaq was already a star even before coming into the league. Moreover, he announced himself to the world by breaking a backboard during his rookie season in the NBA.

During a game against the New Jersey Nets, Shaq brought the rim down. He brought down the backboard while dunking and walked off casually as if nothing had happened!

If being one of the best rookies in the league was not enough, Shaquille O’Neal decided to put his name into NBA history forever. He averaged 23.4 points, 1.9 assists, and 13.9 rebounds during his rookie season.
