“Scapegoat for These Players Acting Like Idiots and Fools”: Charles Barkley Takes Scathing Shots at Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant’s Nets

In the early hours of November 1st, the Brooklyn Nets and head coach Steve Nash mutually parted ways. Naturally, this was the main topic of discussion on TNT’sInside the NBA’, where Charles Barkley didn’t sugar coat his opinion while speaking about Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant’s role in the controversy. 

For almost a year now, the Brooklyn Nets have been in utter chaosNow, with this latest development, they can’t seem to catch a break. While some believe that Steve Nash’s exit will fix the fortunes of the Nets, Charles Barkley firmly stated that Nash was not the reason behind the Nets’ turbulent state of affairs.

Charles Barkley blames Kyrie Irving and co.

Charles Barkley expressed his opinion sternly. While referring to all the chaos and controversies that have unfolded over the past few months, he believed that the organization let the players act like fools resulting in Nash’s exit.  

He said, “This is all on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons. Steve Nash was a scapegoat.”

He believes that irrespective of who would coach them, with the current team roster and their overall attitude, the team wouldn’t win. He justified this claim by mentioning Kyrie Irving’s statement about the team not requiring a coach. 

Following this, Barkley continued to blame the players. He stated that Steve Nash’s coaching abilities weren’t questioned three years ago. 

He said, “All of a sudden these guys start acting like fools and j** a**, and now oh Steve Nash can’t coach. I don’t know if Steve Nash can’t, but I know three or four years ago, he was winning playoff series.” 

What’s next for the Brooklyn Nets?

On the same show, the question about how the Brooklyn Nets could get things under control was raised. Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal weighed in with their views. Kenny Smith stated that all this team needs is time and stability. He highlighted that the Nets seem to have no stability on-court, in the locker room, and off-court.

Shaquille O’Neal, on the other hand, spoke about better leadership from Kevin Durant and Irving. He said, “The two best players on the team, have to lead by example. They have to do the right thing, say the right thing, and play the right way.”
