In a game that had fans at the edge of their seats, the Golden State Warriors did it once again. After lying low for the past two seasons, the Bay is back in the NBA finals and is now one step from the top. While Stephen Curry wasn’t feeling it tonight, he became the first owner of the Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP award. Likewise, NBA Twitter made hilarious comparisons as Curry and the Warriors look forward to another NBA finals.

The NBA came out with some big news for the postseason this year. Redesigning the Larry O’Brien for the ultimate winners, they also celebrated one of the most iconic rivalries in NBA history. Giving credit to Magic Johnson vs Larry Bird, the league came out with conference finals MVP awards. The Western Conference gets Magic while the winner of the Eastern Conference MVP will receive the Larry Bird trophy. And with the Warriors winning Game 5, Curry made history by becoming the first player to get his hands on the Magic Johnson Western Conference MVP award.

Despite it being the debut of this award, there was no way NBA fans would leave this opportunity.

Stephen Curry finally gets a Finals MVP for the Warriors

After his unreal display in the WCF, Curry became the bearer of the Conference finals MVP trophy. Curry was cooking up the Mavericks all series long. Putting up Baby Face Assassin like numbers, Steph was the force behind the Warriors’ dominating offense. En route to his 6th trip to the NBA finals, Cury put up 23.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game against Dallas. While Curry will look for his first Finals MVP trophy, NBA fans were at their comedic best.

After Curry became the first holder of the conference MVP award, NBA Twitter deemed him to be the GOAT. Pointing out his supremacy over the likes of Michael Jordan and LeBron James, fans made the most from Steph’s conference finals MVP honors.

Despite the award, Curry had his weakest performance in Game 5. Posting just 15 points and 9 assists, Curry couldn’t seem to find the bottom of the net all long. However, the Warriors aren’t short of lethal threats. Once again, Klay Thompson stepped up in a series clincher and delivered a clinic. Going off for 32 points, Klay torched the Mavericks with 8 threes. Green and Wiggins combined to score 35 points and added the finishing touches to a classic Warriors win.

On the other hand, the big names in the Dallas camp came up short. While Doncic put up 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, he struggled early in the game. But he managed to find a rhythm in the second half. However, his hot streak came a little too late. Off the bench, Spencer Dinwiddie was an animal all night long. Shooting an efficient 7-12 on the night, he ended up with 26 points, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in the 110-120 loss. However, while these two fired, Brunson had a rare off-day on the worst night possible. Facing elimination, he scored only 10 points while shooting 30% from the floor.

However, this is a night for the Warriors to cherish making their 6th final in just 8 years.
