Michael Jordan, widely regarded as one of the best NBA players in the world, has also had his shares of ups and downs. After struggling and fighting against his problems, he reached where he is now. However, some of these stories are not even known by many.

Some are such that MJ now looks back at them with embarrassment. Shifting to North Carolina, he had always been a part of the Carolina team. However, there was once when he faced such an embarrassment in Carolina that he still wishes not to remember that.

Michael Jordan didn’t get selected for the varsity team

If you were to be asked, would you select young Michael Jordan in your team? You would close your eyes and say yes to it without even looking at other consequences. That is what Michael has become later in his life. However, even he had his lows and one of them which he wants to forget is not making the cut for the Varsity team.

Going back to 1997 when Jay Leno was interviewing Michael Jordan on his ‘The Tonight Show.’, he asked and reminded Michael Jordan of that incident. Jordan immediately said, “That’s embarrassing, why do you always wanna talk about it?

Obviously, he had been asked often about it before because of its significance. However, MJ was fed up with answering that but still continued to talk about it. The Bulls legend said that it was a long time ago, “that was 20 years ago” and many things have changed since.

Jordan also explained that one incident was certainly one of those which shaped his life. He said, “Everyone goes through disappointments, it’s how you deal with disappointments.” MJ also saw that incident as learning for himself and then improved himself, so much so that he didn’t just make it to the University team but also later went on to win the ACC Rookie of the Year, National Champion, and even all-star of 1982.
