Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s history with the Boston Celtics
Ever since the Superteam era in the late 2000s, the Boston Celtics were a sub-500 team for many seasons to come.
But the team’s fortunes would change after they drafted Jayson Tatum as the 3rd pick in the 1st round of the 2017 NBA draft. The 6’8” forward from Duke would become the face of the franchise in the coming seasons. Similarly, the team had drafted another promising talent in the previous year’s draft; Jaylen Brown, the 6’6” forward from California.

Tatum averaged 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, whereas Brown averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. The combined performance of the homegrown stars finally took them to the NBA Finals. But the young duo couldn’t bring it home, and they lost the finals to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. But the future looks bright in Boston, with both of them locked up till 2024.
