Tyronn Lue lead his side to grab an important win against the Warriors side who are currently in 2nd. The LA Clippers’ coach admitted in the post-match interview that the game plan was indeed to try and let Stephen Curry take the least points. The game was similar to that of last week when Luka Doncic was the dominant one in the opposition but the Clippers grabbed a narrow victory against the Mavericks.

Curry had a completely dominant display, however, the Clippers managed to stick to their game plan in the 2nd half more effectively. The Clippers won 119-104 on Monday night and Tyronn Lue was relieved to stop Curry.

 Tyronn Lue speaks his mind

The Clippers managed to restrict the Warriors’ star man from snatching the victory away from them. Only 7 of Curry’s 33 points came in the second half. However, LeBron James‘ former coach restated what he had earlier said about Curry, considering him one of the very best.

“He’s so dangerous, probably the most dangerous player in the league the way he can get hot… In 2017 and 2018m we blitzed him with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson on the floor. That’s how dangerous I think he is.” Ty said of Curry.

“Tonight was one of our most complete games of the season on both sides of the ball, even with Steph getting off to that hot start,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue also added. “We [were] able to adjust and do a better job.”

Weathering the Stephen Storm!

Despite the defeat, Curry seemed to be on a different page altogether as compared to any other player on either side. He impressively grabbed 33 points on 11/18 from the field and 8/13 from deep. Curry made his first six shots and scored 16 points in just the opening 10 minutes. No one else on the Warriors’ side managed to secure more than 13 which ultimately led to the defeat.

Ty’s plan to trap Curry constantly worked as they “weathered the storm”.

“We weathered the storm early,” said Mann.

Terence Mann, A “Mann” in form!

Mann has been in tremendous form of late. He has managed to grab more than 20 points in the last two games for the Clippers, awarding them with two consecutive wins on the run. Mann had not managed that many points in the last 57 games in the season. Mann ended the game against the Warriors with 25 points with all the starters scoring points in double figures.

The Clippers (29-30) outscored Golden State (42-16) by 18 points after the first quarter despite Curry’s efforts. Other than Mann, Covington was also in top form as he had an exceptional number of interceptions.

“Covington had a deflection (on) almost every possession,” Tyronn Lue praised Covington. “He’s one of those guys who takes defense personal.”

The combination of brilliant offensive display from Ty Lue’s side and underwhelming defense from the Warriors handed the Clippers their victory. They won rather handsomely with a scoreline of 119-104.
