Michael Jordan and the Bulls ran the NBA when they became a dynasty. Winning six championships in a span of merely 8 years saw their fans just grow in number. It is unimaginable to think the Bulls with Jordan were ever a losing team. However, when MJ first came to the Bulls, that was exactly how the story ran. While on the Dan Patrick Show, NBA commissioner Adam Silver spoke about his early times of going to watch Michael Jordan and the Bulls with his friends.

His Airness did not take much time to become a superstar in the NBA. Ever since stepping on the hardwood, he made his dominance clear from the get-go. Even as a rookie, Jordan was already one of the best scorers in the league. He exploded in his rookie season and arrived in the best way. But while personal accolades came by, the Bulls were not a winning organization. Notably, the 10-time scoring champion had to wait almost a decade to capture his first title.

Recently, Adam Silver spoke about the Bulls during Jordan’s rookie days and how you could get a ticket 10 minutes before the game.

Michael Jordan was always a phenom

Speaking to Dan Patrick, Silver spoke about his early days and how he transitioned from a lawyer into the NBA commissioner. When Silver did go to the University of Chicago, he got his first glimpse of Jordan in action. Silver admitted that MJ was unreal but the Bulls were not quite there just yet. He said it was easy to get a ticket even minutes before the game.

The commissioner explained saying: “Michael was a phenom but they weren’t winning in those early years. You could just go to the old Bulls stadium 10 minutes before the game buy a ticket and go. So used to go with my law school friends. And I remember early days and the Bulls you thought you were experiencing something pre-internet, everything else that no one else sort of understood. You felt like you were in a special club watching Michael Jordan in those teams.”

Entering the league in 1984, Jordan came in as the third overall pick. Likewise, he played his heart out averaging almost 30 points per game in his rookie season. However, up until 1991, Jordan failed to make it to the NBA finals. With opponents such as the Celtics and Pistons, even dropping 63 points was not enough to carry the Bulls through. It was with time and sacrifice that MJ and the Bulls rose up to the top of the mountain.
