The dust around the Michael Jordan vs LeBron James debate might never settle. In fact, it only stretched farther when Bron won his 4th NBA Championship.

His side of fans was quick to claim that King James is just one championship win away from either dethroning or matching the greatness of Michael Jordan.

If there is a tabular representation of arguments in support and those against this claim, it will get bigger than any Wikipedia page out there. Recently, one such debate among NBA analysts got totally heated and went out of hand (symbolically).

It was more like a WWE tag team match

In the recent ESPN debate, it was Kendrick Perkins and his imaginary tag-partner LeBron James vs Stephen A. Smith and Michael Jordan.

Kendrick began by expressing, “I never said Jordan won against soft competition… I came in the league with LeBron James in 2003 and the league was physical.

“The league still had guys like Ron Artest, Shaquille O’Neal, Stephen Jackson, Gary Payton. The league was physical from 2003 to 2011 (corrects himself to 2012).

“Championship should not define, it should play a major part, but should not write the whole story. This is not an individual sport.”

To this, Stephen A. Smith responded by pressing his opinion and exclaiming, “LeBron James and MJ, like Kendrick Perkins said, they ain’t at the same dinner table.

“I’m not gonna refute that KP. So you can lift up your head and stop looking at the pressed pastor, I’m saying he’s at the same dinner table but he ain’t MJ.”

Who played more dominantly? Michael Jordan or LeBron James?

As facts would have it, with MJ on the team, the Chicago Bulls played 13 seasons and qualified for the postseason each time.

Moreover, they had 5 seasons where they topped the table with 60+ wins and so MJ totally dominated in that era. Air Jordan also enjoyed a crazy 72-10 season and never once lost the finals.

On the other hand, Bron clearly played 4 more NBA Finals while winning 2 fewer titles. But one must also agree that it was because of Bron that Cleveland started winning and ultimately won the 2016 trophy after a historic comeback.

KP further added, “I’m a fan of Michael Jordan. But like I said, you could come down to Texas and I’ll take you straight to where I grew up in and we can go talk with all my great uncles and they can go down and argue Kareem is the greatest of all time, then we’ll come to your generation and Michael comes on top, but when it comes to mine [LeBron].”

Just before he could even complete, an excited Stephen interrupted him and ended the conversation by claiming, “Jordan is the head of the table Perk.”
