With the biggest sporting event in the world off to a historic start, the fans are going gaga over the Qatar FIFA 2022 world cup. However, the billions of eyes glued to the tournament for the coming few months will have their focus on the two biggest names of the sport. Celebrating what might be the last world cup runs of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Lois Vuitton came out with an iconic shot that has broken the internet.

The splendid shot of the two legends playing chess atop a Lois Vuitton case has reached every corner of the Internet. Consequently, FIBA pulled out all stops and recreated the iconic photo with Michael Jordan and LeBron James. However, FIBA couldn’t fathom the absolute mayhem that would ensue following the post.

The consensus among soccer fans favors Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as two of the greatest players of the sport. Messi and Ronaldo have etched a vibrant picture of the #10 and #7 onto the minds of billions after decades of dominance. But unlike soccer, where the crown may find itself on either of those two, in basketball, the GOAT debate has multiple contenders.

However, the two most popular names always appearing in these debates are LeBron James and Michael Jordan. However, a sizeable portion of the fanbase also vehemently rejects that idea. Regardless, the GOAT debate has been the most contentious debate in the NBA that has divided the fanbase for decades. Similarly, after FIBA recreated the iconic LV shot and dubbed it ‘Two Kings, checkmate” unsurprisingly, a social media storm ensued.

In the rich 75-year history of the NBA, more than 4500 players have suited up on the court; however, only a handful have earned the status of all-time greatness. Moreover, among these greats, another elite group has differentiated themselves from the rest and cemented their legacy on the mount Rushmore of basketball. For decades the debate has revolved around familiar names such as Jordan, James, Abdul-Jabbar, Bryant, O’Neal, and a handful more. However, in the last decade, James’ historic run has exalted his status to the top of every ranking alongside Jordan.
