Draymond Green Close to Changing His Shoe Brand: Reports

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is set to sign a shoe endorsement deal with Converse. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has reported that Green, who has been using shoes from Nike, will soon sign with Converse.

“Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is signing a shoe deal with Converse, sources tell ESPN. He will become the brand’s highest-profile athlete since Dwyane Wade. Green had been with Nike,” Wojnarowski wrote on Instagram and Twitter.

Converse, whose parent brand is apparently Nike, doesn’t have such a big market in the NBA. One notable player with a Converse contract currently in the NBA is Phoenix Suns’ Kelly Oubre Jr. who had signed an endorsement deal with Converse in 2018.

While most NBA superstars including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, and Paul George have a sneaker deal with Nike, a few players sport shoes from brands like Adidas, Puma, and New Balance.

Not long ago Converse had a decent market in the NBA. Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade used to sport shoes from the Converse brand. Going back further, Converse had a much better market in NBA. The likes of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird had deals with the brand.

Signing a recognizable player like Green is certainly a step towards regaining the NBA market. And the partnership of its parent brand will also help Converse to achieve visibility in the NBA.
