Jimmy Butler Upbeat after Miami Heat Trade in Andre Iguodala

One of the most talked-about players in the trade market this season has been Andre Iguodala. After being linked to multiple possible trades, Iguodala was eventually traded to Miami Heat as the Trade window was coming to an end. With the trade, Iguodala has now joined the likes of Jimmy Butler to help Miami Heat compete for the Championship. Butler felt positive about his team’s new signing and praised the 36-year old NBA veteran.
“We’re ready to go to war. We know we can compete with the best of them,” he said.
“He’s super smart. There’s nothing he cannot do. When I get to learn from him, when everyone gets to learn from him, that winning level, that meter, is going up in everyone’s mind.”

Andre Iguodala: a 36-year old veteran with a shot at another Championship
A part of the golden generation of the Golden State Warriors, Iguodala has won three titles in six seasons with them. Playing alongside the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, Iguodala was often not as hyped as his teammates but was an important piece in the Warriors side. Most notably, he was the Finals MVP when Warriors won the title in 2015.

The title in 2015 was Iguodala’s first after playing 11 years in NBA. He started his career in 2004 when the Philadephia 76ers drafted him with the ninth overall pick in the NBA Draft. He played eight seasons with the Sixers before joining Denver Nuggets. After just one season in Denver, his highly productive years started with the Warriors.

Prior to the start of the 2019/20 season, the Dubs had to trade him in a trade window that saw major changes in their roster. Joining Memphis Grizzlies, Iguodala wasn’t happy to play for a team that wasn’t in contention for the playoffs and sat on the bench.

On deadline day, he was eventually traded to Miami Heat on a two-year $30 million contract, with a team option in the second year.
With Iguodala in their ranks, Miami can compete strongly for the Championship and Iguodala can add one more Championship before his career comes to an end.
