Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is closer to making a return after his injury.

Davis suffered a back injury when he had a fall during the game against New York Knicks a week ago. Talking publicly for the first time since the injury, Davis said that he wasn’t feeling much pain and would be returning soon.

“Right now, just talking to you? Zero [pain] right now,” Davis was quoted as saying on Tuesday. “It’s the movement that kind of gets me. But … I’m getting closer to getting back on the floor with these guys.”

Davis said that the fall had left him in immense pain and it felt difficult for him to even walk.

“It was pretty tough for me to just roll over on my back and on my side at the initial point of contact,” he said. “It was tough. I didn’t want any speculation, but I was just praying that it wasn’t anything too serious.”

However, X-Rays and MRI revealed that the 26-year old was fortunate to avoid any major injury.

“Very relieving knowing that just based on how it felt, a day-to-day thing, [rather] than a fracture or anything like that where you need surgery and you’re out weeks or months or whatever,” Davis said.

Absence of Anthony Davis not hurting the Lakers

Anthony Davis is the leading scorer for the Lakers this season. While his absence would be a blow for the side, the Lakers have fared decently without their star man. Davis has now missed three games and the Lakers have managed to win all three.

With LeBron James continuing his good form, the likes of Kyle Kuzma and Alex Caruso have stepped up in the absence of Davis. The good form has enabled Davis to take his time for rehabilitation and he admitted he was taking it “slower than usual.”
