It looks like the Detroit Pistons are going to be forced to hold onto Andre Drummond. They will either have to pay him this summer when he hits free agency or risk losing him for nothing.

The Miami Heat are looking for another star player to play alongside Jimmy Butler. They need a readymade one, as Jimmy has turned 31 now. The Detroit Pistons would demand some moneymakers like Bam Adebayo and the likes of Justice Winslow. However, the Heat will have to send another promising player to Detroit to stay under the salary cap.

The main teams who were reportedly after Drummond, the Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, all own the draft capital necessary to meet Detroit’s demands, even if they may not want to right now, so there are chances of trade talks for the double-double machine and league’s leading rebounder may open up again as we get closer to the Feb. 6 deadline. The Miami Heat should act on Drummond’s trade as soon as they can.

2. Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers

Kevin Love has been in trade rumours for a long time now. The Heat acquiring Love would give them another star-powered player who can perform alongside Butler. He can perform well on the offensive end, stretching the floor to create space for Miami’s other shooters like Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson.

Love has also proven he can be a capable defender with playoff experience, as one of the biggest moments of Cleveland’s Game 7 win over the Golden State Warriors in 2016 was  Love defending Stephen Curry on the perimeter relatively well in the dwindling moments.

3. Jrue Holiday of the New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans’ point guard Jrue Holiday is having another solid season as one of the better two-way guards in the league. He is averaging 15.7 points, 6.4 assists and 2.0 stocks (steals and blocks) per game. Holiday wants to be on a winner. While he hasn’t asked for trade just yet, there’s a belief he could be on the move, with the Heat rumoured to be a potential destination.

The Heat could use Holiday’s services to provide scoring, playmaking and elite perimeter defense. Holiday would be a clear upgrade and would give the Heat huge defensive upside. A trio of Holiday, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo would be terrifying.
