Giannis Antetokounmpo and the latest feather in his hat

The Milwaukee Bucks drafted Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2013. If his stats are anything to go by, the team made a good decision by enlisting the player. He is the only player who has increased his PPG (points per game) and RPG (rebounds per game) in five straight years.

The above stats prove that the Greek Freak has only been improving the past five years. Before the NBA suspended the current season, he had a few really good performances, which put him in the race for NBA’s MVP once again.

Also, ESPN recently conducted an MVP survey with 70 media members. The survey included the likes of LeBron James, James Harden, Luka Doncic and Kawhi Leonard. Despite the competition, the Greek Freak was the first choice for MVP in 60 results. Though the poll was informal, it spoke volumes about Giannis’ abilities.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James’ stats race

Before the NBA’s suspension, the MVP race was really starting to heat up, especially between Giannis and LeBron James.

Giannis logs in just 30.9 minutes per game. The 25-year-old ranks 73rd in that category, choosing destroying his opposition with crazy efficiency.

Antetokounmpo ranks third in the NBA league for scoring and fourth in the league for rebounding. The Bucks are outscoring their opponents by 16.1 points per 100 possessions while he is on the floor. His PER of 31.7 is on pace to be the greatest in NBA history.

The Bucks forward is averaging a combined 51.6 points, rebounds and assists per game against above 500 teams this season.  No one has topped over this number in the last 25 years including LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kobe Bryant.

James has received his share of praise for his performance during his 17th season in the league. He had an amazing weekend just before the season was suspended, which led to the Lakers’ qualification into the playoffs. He posted 28 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in the home win over the Bucks, compiling a line of 29 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists against the Los Angeles Clippers.

James leads every player with 10.6 assists per game. He also breaks all stereotypes about players his age, as he displays his trademark durability averaging 34.9 minutes per game.

Even though James is an absolute marvel at his age and has had an amazing season so far, it seems as though Giannis Antetokounmpo might just get the last laugh.
