“A Reality That He Has to Go Through”: Warriors’ Star Steph Curry Opens Up on How Klay Thompson is Handling His Injury

The Golden State Warriors had a disastrous 2019-20 season owing to their injured stars. They were set to make a big comeback during the start of this season. Weeks before the start, they suffered a major setback as their star Klay Thompson suffered yet another season ending injury as he tore his Achilles tendon.

Teammate and fellow Warriors star Steph Curry provided a major update on his teammate. In yesterday’s presser when Curry said, “He hasn’t killed the spirit. We know how energetic and the magnet that is Klay, his personality hasn’t changed but there is a reality that he has to go through alone that we haven’t.”

“Our job as teammates and organization is to be there for him and try to just to make things as normal as possible in terms of having fun around the game and around the locker room so that he can take his mind off the day today grind that he has to go through. I guess there is one guy who can withstand this and comeback and not let this kill his spirit, that’s definitely Klay.”

The Warriors have signed some young replacements like Kelly Oubre Jr. They will bank on their younger players to step up and support Steph Curry and Draymond Green.

What can we expect from this Warriors team?

The Warriors would have been a championship team if Klay was healthy. But things are different now. They have brought in newer players like Kelly Oubre Jr. to replace Thompson’s output.

Even though they have suffered a major setback with Klay’s injury, they are coming off of a very long break. There are the only top team who had an off-season lasting 9 months. The teams that had made deep playoff runs are getting an off season of 90 days.

This is an enormous advantage that the team will have. While many teams might suffer from fatigue, the Dubs will always be juiced up to face them.

Their new acquisitions, Kelly Oubre Jr. and their draft pick James Wiseman are also a step into the right direction. If Oubre can replicate his 2019-20 form where he averaged 18.7 points, 1.5 assists and 6.4 rebounds, he will be big offensive help to Curry.

Wiseman has all the attributes to become a longtime center for the team. His athleticism and defensive abilities will be put to test once he starts for the team.

The Warriors are starting their pre-season on 13th December against the Denver Nuggets. After this match, they have two games against the Sacramento Kings. The team will be eager to see how their young stars perform. The Warriors will surely be an exciting team to watch next season.
