Ahead of the NBA’s restart in Orlando, the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a huge blow as Rajon Rondo sustained a fracture on his thumb. The veteran will be out for 6-8 weeks and should hopefully be back if the Lakers make it to the finals. The team’s momentum must have taken a hit, but they still remain confident of their chances and Anthony Davis is a player who can help them win the championship.

Ever since Anthony Davis was brought into the team via a mega-trade deal, the Lakers have improved drastically. AD proves to be the perfect Robin to LBJ’s Batman. The pair have combined brilliantly so far. Moreover, we can’t wait to see what they will give us in the playoffs.

Spectrum SportsNet recently published a video of AD’s press conference on twitter. While LeBron James revealed that they had no problems getting back their connection after a four-month break, AD says they are trying to rebuild the chemistry around the team. Here is what the 6’10” forward informed about how the Lakers are getting ready inside the bubble.

“I think just getting our chemistry again. We had couple of months off and we were on a great roll… getting Dion and JR adjusted to our system and to our team and building that chemistry now that we have all guys here,” Davis said.

Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis are focusing on their first scrimmage game

Before the season officially resumes, each team will take part in three scrimmage games as scheduled by the NBA. For the Lakers, they take on the Dallas Mavericks on July 23. It will be followed by games against the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards on alternate days.

This will certainly help the athletes prepare themselves for the restart. The players have been without competitive basketball for several months and engaging themselves in exhibition games against different teams would help get back the feel.

AD knows the importance of finding their rhythm during these three scrimmage games. In fact, he revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers are working hard towards rebuilding their team for their first scrimmage game.

“We are just trying to rebuild our system, rebuild our chemistry again and getting ready not for our first game but our first scrimmage against Dallas, just trying to get back into the swing of things so by the time the first game comes we are ready,” Davis said.

Upon completing their scrimmage schedule, the Lakers have a testing challenge ahead of them. A matchup that could potentially be a pre-version of the conference finals. While it is too early to tell, many people expect the LA Clippers to show up big this time around.

As of now, the Clippers hold a slight advantage in terms of roster strength and player availability. Though the Lakers stand atop the Western Conference, the Clippers would look to carve their path in the playoffs and upset the Lakers to reach their first-ever NBA Finals.
