Luka Doncic has been one of the best players in the bubble. He is currently first in assist, and second in rebounds and points in the bubble so far. Every game he manages to pull off some magical moments. But NBA analyst Jalen Rose is bothered about by the attention Luka is getting. He says James Harden and Russell Westbrook have also been doing the same things for years.

On NBA Countdown, Paul Pierce was on the Doncic hype train, talking about how he can record crazy numbers every other night. Rose disagreed with Pierce and talked about Harden and Westbrook have been doing that before Doncic came in.

“I’ve got some breaking news from Houston,” Rose said. “James Harden’s been doing this. Let’s not act like James Harden hasn’t been giving us 50-point triple-doubles, and Russell Westbrook didn’t just average a triple-double two years ago now.”

Luka Doncic: Future of the NBA

Rose is right when he says Harden and Westbrook have been doing that for years, but Doncic is 21. Along with Kristaps Porzingis, he has carried the Dallas franchise to the playoffs this season. In just his second season in the league, he is averaging 29 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.9 assists. That is something players are unable to achieve even in their prime.

He also made the All-Star game as a starter this year, becoming the youngest to do it since LeBron James in 2005.

There is no doubt Harden is a better player than Doncic at the moment, but praising either of them doesn’t have to be at the expense of the other. Both are geniuses on the court and can wow the audience with multiple aspects of their game.

The Mavericks play tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers, who are currently fighting to make the playoffs. Doncic and Porzingis didn’t play a single minute in last night’s victory over the Utah Jazz. But with them now having a potential chance to move up the ladder, the duo might return to action tonight.

The Mavericks can avoid a potential clash against second seed Los Angeles Clippers if they can win their next two games and if the Jazz continue their losing streak and lose their final game against the San Antonio Spurs.
